Description

Ares is a highly specialized geth platform built for one purpose: to fight the reapers. The geth consensus judged it wise to build single platforms for isolated operations on the battlefield, where a platoon of other platforms would be inefficient. These units were based, at least in some capacity, on Legion. One unit would contain many geth programs so it could operate alone. But unlike Legion, they would be given specialized weapons, tactical assets, and equipment. The geth began construction near the Dyson sphere, and completed a template for the new units, which they called warlords. But when the quarians destroyed the Dyson sphere, all but the template could not be recovered. The geth brought the template to Rannoch to apply the final touches to the unit so it could be deployed immediately to fight the quarians. They uploaded programs into the warlord, and sent it to the planet's surface. But before the warlord could begin wreaking untold havoc, the war ended, as Commander Shepard had made peace between the geth and the quarians.

After becoming a fully evolved AI, the warlord took on the name Ares, after the human god of war. He was sent by the geth to help the war effort alongside the citadel species. Considering the platform's remarkable capabilities, Admiral Hackett saw fit to deploy it with the N7 Special Ops groups.

Ares has several advantages over other geth platforms. First, he can operate alone on the battlefield. Second, he is capable of carrying out any type of mission he is sent on due to his arsenal of built-in weapons and systems. He has a tactical cloak system for stealth, and a retractable blade for melee combat. It is heavier than an omniblade, but it activates instantly and is much larger. Ares also has small dragon's teeth on his arm, which can emit EMP pulses and secrete a nerve toxin. This allows him to capture any target with minimal resistance.

This character is inspired by the addition of geth as playable characters into Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. I've always loved the geth in the ME series, and especially Legion. Now that I could be one, I simply had to come up with a story for my character. I tried to keep it as lore-friendly as I could, although in my mind making peace between quarians and geth is a no-brainer for anyone doing that part of the game.

I must confess, my opinion on this picture is one of mediocrity. I'm still struggling to get shading down with digital art, but I'm working at it. I'm really proud of the design of the character though.

Geth, Mass Effect, and all that other crap in my description is (c) Bioware.

They definitely should've at least gave Legion a role in the Citadel DLC. They never said what happened to his body, and recently, I figured of the possibility that the Council, in light of Legion's contributions to Shepard's efforts, give Legion something of a soldier's march at the Citadel before placing his body with other corpses important people in recorded galactic history. Anyway, I also figured that if his VI counterpart survived, it, alongside an older Jona'Hazt, would make a fine antagonist in a story that depicts the future of post-negotiated Rannoch. I think Jona would make a fine homage to Blue Cosmos of Gundam animation and the Rebel forces of Valkyria Chronicles II out of lingering hatred for those he blames for the deaths of his parents and the Geth VI, in patriotic fervor and a desire to live up to his template, decides to reignite the war in a possibly unequal setting and his possible forces might be like the Principality of Zeon. Although that might be my fascination of the Gundam franchise talking. I posted some of these videos, you see.
